Sir,
I have the honour to refer to
Sessional Paper No. 3/1937 on the subject
of the water supply of Hong Kong, copies
of which were forwarded to you on the S. S.
"Hakone Maru" due in London on the 27th
May.

The report was considered by my
Executive Council on May 5th. The Council
were unanimously of the opinion that the
additional works recommended should be
commenced as early as possible and the
Treasurer has been directed to prepare a
memorandum on the financial implications
for consideration by the Finance Committee.
3.
Meanwhile, as the matter is urgent,
I have authorized the Director of Public
Works to incur expenditure up to a total of
$15,000 on surveys, site investigation,
clearing and other preliminary work in
